Perfectly imperfect encouragement


Do you ever feel 'not normal'? Because I definitely am not normal. Today I had a lovely conversation with a coworker about the insecurities we feel in our job. I made a stupid mistake + I've been vigilant ever since - perhaps a little too vigilant where it becomes paralyzing. That moment of connection + empathy, of "hey, I struggle with this too" was what I truly needed today. I didn't realize how much.

I've always felt like an outsider, like I don't fit in, like I'm not normal. And I guess I'm not. I don't drink. I don't go out. I don't gossip or talk about superficial stuff. I don't particularly care for music or following celebrities. I don't take Ubers (ever!).

I AM different. I am *me*. Just like you are *you*. Wanting to fit in is a natural, biological need we have, but when it takes over and makes you feel inadequate, that's when it's time to change your mindset about that particular situation. If you've been stuck in a state of inadequacy for far too long, remember this. You are yourself and, therefore, you are normal. Different, unique, but normal.
